net-tiquette

i saw this article in the news today, that got me thinking. it had to do with cell phones at etiquette on the phone.

i remember back in the day when text messages were minimal --- and you heard a dial tone with the fuzz noise following it to get online and check your mail. now a days, its all on your cell phone and you don't even have to talk to anyone to communicate.

but -- isn't it rude to be texting while you are with someone? or checking your email, facebook, baseball scores when you are with someone?

or what about answering someones call when you are with someone? i mean it is so rare that you get a phone call over a text, that you never know if it is an emergency, or something so exciting that deserved a real call.

all at the same time you are WITH someone. and yet two, three other people also want to have contact with you. who do you give your attention to? it seems like if you don't respond or answer the call, the other things you are mad at them. or something happened. but if you do answer or reply, then you are rude with the person you are with.

i understand both sides.

conclusion by talise: it is my biggest pet peeve when someone i am with is playing a game on their smart phone, or texting someone constantly ( i don't mind the quick response). not to say i am perfect and never check my facebook when i am with others or text --- but i am very conscious about it.

i don't know--- i am so lost as to what to think. it seems like a lose lose situation
