as i pulled in, i was just giddy. i was grinning like --- a fat kid seeing a bakery. i truly love rexburg. in the 48 hours that i was there, i did a lot!
1. finally got to go into the rexburg temple. i was there when it was announced, saw the beginnings of this beautiful edifice. and now, i finally got to go. it was a well needed trip, and it was the perfect time to go.
2. becky took me on a tour of campus. so much construction has been going on, that i knew it'd be different. it was beautiful! as i walked up and down the pathways, floods of great memories came to me. oh i love the spirit of ricks!
becky did warn me that i might cry because of the changes. more than anything it was just all a shock. the galley is gone. now it is the crossroads; make a connections. needless to say that was the joke of the weekend.. make a connection. you tell me what that means to you.
3. went to the classic craigos. becky and i met up with bobby -- it was SO good to see him. he's a stud. it is always fun to meet up with friends you haven't seen in years --- and more than that, to hear they are doing well. elder kevin bacon also met us there! ps, i heart craigos!
4. got a new look for the summer. becky put highlights in my hair! it was fun! not to mention i am sure her roommates think i am crazy, but it was fun either way!
5. becky is one of my only friends that really can appreciate my love for weddings. be both anxiously await every season for the new martha to come out. and then we discuss what we like and don't like. one day our dream will come true have our own wedding business, or just even plan our own weddings.
6. a new friend, angela, taught me how to perfect the poof. i can tease my hair -- and get some great height!
7. attended guitars unplugged. this was one of the great bonuses of going this last weekend. it was so fun. i suprisingly was able to see a lot of people i knew while people watching. and yes i went and talked to them too. it was a fun concert. really, it was just fun to be there.
8. now everyone who really knows me, WILL gasp when they read this--- i went to a dance. i KNOW. shock to everyone. after the guitars unplugged there is a dance. not ONCE in the 4 years i went to school at byui did i ever go to a dance. and the one time i go back. there i was on the dance floor. haha. it was a lot of fun.. i am SURE i looked like a fool. but it was fun! i am posting a video, but with the disclaimer that you'll get dizzy. but this is proof that i went. and ps--- it wasn't even for a boy.
9. while up there, i saw a lot of kids from my home ward. now, when i went up there, i truly believe i was kinda a pioneer. there weren't very many from home that went to rexburg. so i never really got to see "home friends". but as i saw a handful of them-- i was SO impressed. so happy for who they have become. i am so proud of them. raging from being so beautiful (and on a date) to being a dignified priesthood holder passing the sacrament.
10. church. i really really enjoyed church in rexburg. i know the church is the same everywhere, but it was such quality. ironically we walked in and the girl was speaking about eternal marriages. HAHA. but it was GOOD! i honestly believe that it has a lot to do with where they are at. byui grows leaders -- people who WILL make a difference once they leave byui. and i witnessed that today.
Can i just say, i WANT to go back SOOO bad. The last time i was there, you were graduating. And REALLY the gally is GONE??? and what a gay name! haha Although make connections work, remember our good ol luke and (whats his name, that had the dark curly hair)days. haha. And you LIED!! You went to a dance with me at school! Remember the country night??? hahahahahaha. Oh man. Im glad you were able to go back and visit. one of these days i will make it back. But i probably wont be able to experience all the fun stuff you did, because I'm sure all my old friends are gone. Although I do have some laurels that go there now. ;-) Man i feel old.
