chasing dreams and goals

this weekend i was speaking to an older more experiences woman -- one how has been pretty successful in her career.

ironically, she told me a story of how her son met his wife in this most spectacular, unexpected way (not to mention at a wedding), while somehow trying to console me in why i was still 27 and single. not really sure what the intention was, but i did walk away with something.

in the end of the conversation, she recommended me to watch this documentary (just found it on netflix, i'll report later). but i asked her what it was about and she said it was about being positive, thinking with an optimistic outlook on everything to come. whether it was finding a parking spot closest to the door at mall of america, to finding a spouse.

i kinda chuckled, nodded, and smiled. and the more i thought about the more i realized, and am so thankful for this woman and the lesson she had just taught me.

whatever is to come for me in 2013, in even the next month, i need to have an optimistic outlook. it is so easy for me to doubt, to be weary, and frustrated with many aspects of what is going on in the world or in my life; but what a difference can be made with one little shift in attitude.

i go back to the one piece of advice drew gave/taught when we talked to him on christmas, he said attitude is everything. he is so right, when we have that proper attitude, we can allow miracles to occur in our lives. for those of you who KNOW me, i am a hopeful person. and here embarking on a new year, i am optimistically hopeful of what is to come. not necessarily finding someone, but in all aspects of life, financially, spiritually, physically, professionally.

no longer can i/we wait for something to happen, or wait for all the puzzle pieces to make sense -- but sometimes, getting up and MAKING dreams come true and taking a step closer to attaining that goal.

  1. Isn't it amazing how much our attitude can affect our lives? There is good in every situation. We just have to be willing to open our eyes and see it. Thanks for this insight in these two posts Talise...I can always count on you to teach me and uplift me :)
