just going a little fast

driving home i saw this little cadillac red convertible with a big white man in it -- there are so few of these scenarios that i knew it was my dad. what is the likely-hood, in the twin cities, that i find my dad on the freeway.

with my excitement, i try to catch up with him. i can only imagine what i looked like. this huge grin on my face, thinking i'm so funny. as i was only hitting about 10 over the limit, when i turn next to me in  normal ford taures -- a state trooper. still with my grin on my face i turn right next to me and realize exactly where this was leading.

my natural instinct --- hit the breaks. not moments later, i am along the side of the road with flashing lights behind me. busted.

but -- unlike other times, i was so calm. i am a bit nervous that i still had that same grin on my face when the officer came over to my window and asked me "you know why i pulled you over?" oh goodness.

i was 100% guilty of anything that was coming my way. i'm not sure if that is why i was so calm. i know i had done wrong, and so i already knew and prepared myself to receive the consequences. well lucky for me, i only ended up with a warning.

so of course, the rest of the night, i am taking it really slow and calm. as a result making me think, and some how learn something form my encounter with officer stricker.

i learned something about myself -- when i know i am at fault, i am willing to take the consequences that come. for the most part i feel like i know and am able to recognize that i am wrong, and when i deserve those consequences. that's hard sometimes.

another part to that -- life lately, these last 6 months surely has been flying and been a constant GO! then suddenly, i get pulled over to recognize, or to get warn myself to start focusing on the important things in life. it is so easy to get caught up in the little things. but thanks to officer stricker, i've had a lesson be taught to me.

ps...best part of the story, i didn't get a ticket!
