law of reciprocation

i don't think this is truly a law, but i am thinking it should be.

over the years, and i continue, to learn how important that this 'law' is. i believe that reciprocation is required in many different venues and will result in many different things.

the first being friendship. i have been led to believe that in those i seek friendships with, i am willing to do as much as possible, or to the best of my capacity. but at some point, the other party must do their part. whether that is accepting with gratitude or a sense of appreciation. i think even just that sense of being wanted by the invited party, is reciprocation enough. or also another way of showing this reciprocation, and probably the most ideal, is the gesture given back in return. when you are sought out after the invited party. i think this is when friendship truly progresses. this shows me that both parties are willing to work at developing that friendship. and then this goes back and forth. i don't think that it can ever be one sided, or that once reciprocated, you are finished.

the second being a relationship. and though i haven't been good at this one, i have sure learned a lot over the years. and dare i say, i do have a lot to work towards as well. but when one has interest in another, i am led to believe that one must show those feelings. and if the other is on board with these feelings, reciprocation of those feelings/actions is required. and, correct me if i am wrong, but i think reciprocation is an act that must continue in a relationship as well. i am thinking this is how people make it happen, right?

and so i have come to recognize the true importance of the law of reciprocation. i think that this is what allows relationships, romantic and friendships alike, to progress. meh? thoughts?

  1. I agree...though sometimes a hard task it does help the progression of things!

  2. LIKE (thumbs up)....I think you're right Talise. Like Jill said, sometimes it's a hard task! But, certainly it does help the progression of things. And I think it's how we continue to nurture our relationships, whatever they may be (friendship, marriage, etc.)
