dear lady liberty

dear lady liberty,

there is something about NYC that makes meproud to bean american. it was my first time to the big apple, and it sure did live up to all the expectations.

i love traveling, and this trip was a perfect example as to why i love traveling. we were able to stay with two friends who have been living in the city (and in staten island) for sometime. so they were the locals. it was so great!

before leaving my mom told me not to be too friendly, but for those of you who do know me, that was near impossible. the new yorkers were SO nice. of course i found new people and friend; in chinatown, at the hot dog stands, on the subways. it was so great!

it is a busy life down there! that is for sure! but there were so many peaceful moments as well. i didn't really think ground zero or that area would hit me -- the way it did.but i did just get chills. it was so amazing to imagine what had happened in that place. and then to top it off to see the policeman and the fireman up and down the streets. i then in that moment i looked at the american flag a bit differently. and the to top it --- lady liberty! most stunning part of the trip!

i really did learn a lot on this trip. i am learning, that on trips, i really come to re-evalutae my life and the stage that i am in my life. but as i walked the streets, and rode the subway i saw fathers taking care of their daughters, families living a normal life, in the city, young adults trying to identify who they are. we are in the same boat --- going about life, just trying to figure it all out!

by the end of the trip, i truly felt like a professional new yorker. people were asking US which subway to go on, or where certain places were located. it truly was just an enjoyable trip!
