treasure hunting

i am taking advantage of every saturday morning, while the weather is still great and garage sales are still going.

my roommates and are garage sales fanatics. i will say my one roommate, jenna, is our ring leader and teaches us the trick of the trade. thus, the jenna guide to treasure hunting.

1. start early. 730/8 am. however around 1130ish you MAY see prices go down.
2. stop signs are optional. we are in a hurry!
3. you see a sign --- follow the arrow. there is no schedule you go with the signs. big & neon are the best.
4. in the case of a drive by-- don't make eye contact, but always keep smiling as you drive.
5. buy lemonade from the lil' ones in front of the garage sale.
6. always bargin! don't settle for sticker price.
7. be prepared to find anything and everything.
8. if you love it, buy it.
9. definitely give yourself time. and don't be afraid to get lost, in the end that is the best plan to great garage sale success.
10. always evaluate at the end of the day the best buys.

our finds ranged from an amazing napkin holder from the 1960's for sure, to a great family room chair. tins, vases, plates, and decor. we DID see someone trying to sell an engagement ring, decided to play along, and take a look at it. found out that she was willing to take 'services' for payment. (ie.... houskeeping, nanaying, or finishing her basement).

oh the stories of my life
.
